Maik Armstrong

Raised in Cape Town and  Sydney and educated on four continents, including Goldsmiths College London and the University of Southern California Maik has been living in Istanbul for last ten years.

He has worked with Marc Newson on a high-profile residential tower in Brisbane; with John Warwicker of London’s Tomato Design Collective on new concept education facilities and on British American Tobacco’s subliminal advertising and branding for their Lucky Strike and Benson & Hedges brands

Maik has had several high profile commissions including from the European Union as well as from some of the world’s top architectural and development companies.  In addition he has had over a dozen exhibitions in many countries over the past decade.

He has also won competitions in Shanghai and Sydney for multimedia design and marketing proposals.

Maik currently lives and works in Istanbul where his background in art, architecture, graphic design and advertising allows him to explore the major themes of his work —utopia/dystopia and place/identity — through his photographs, paintings, sculptures and installations.
